Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection consists of three folders of materials. These materials include diary notations from March 1936 to February 1937, incoming and outgoing correspondence from 1936 mainly concerning the Good Neighbor League, and clippings related primarily to the deterioration of High's relationship with Franklin D. Roosevelt's administration.
Collection Historical Note
Stanley High was a jounrnalist with the Christian Science Monitor and Christian Herald, and a commentator on current events for the National Broadcasting Company. In 1936, he organized the Good Neighbor League. He served as the League's president until 1937, directing its efforts to promote the re-election of Franklin D. Roosevelt by emphasizing the positive social and economic accomplishments of the New Deal. In 1937, High returned to his career as a journalist.
