Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection consists of copies of materials found in several collections in the FDR Library holdings. These materials include correspondence between Amelia Earhart and Franklin D. and Eleanor Roosevelt; memoranda, news clippings, and other material pertaining to Earhart and her activities in aviation; correspondence between Eleanor Roosevelt and Earhart's husband, publisher George Putnam; and diplomatic communications concerning Japanese efforts to help locate Earhart after her disappearance in 1937. Also included is a register of the FDR Library collections which contain the originals from which these copies were made.
