This collection consists of one folder of materials. These materials include a photocopy of the document prepared in 1934 by I. S. Falk for Harry Hopkins, "Social Security and Public Welfare in the United States: Outline of a Program," and correspondence relating to it.

Collection Historical Note

Isidore Sydney Falk (1899-1984) was a public health medical economist and an advocate for national health care policies. From 1933 to 1935 he worked as a research associate for Milbank Memorial Fund, an organization devoted to the promotion of individual and public health. In 1934, at the request of Harry Hopkins, Falk prepared a paper on social security from which Hopkins drew in his discussions on social security policy with Franklin D. Roosevelt. Falk went on the work in the Division of Research and Statistics of the Social Security Administration (1936-1954).
