Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection consists of one folder containing the following materials: correspondence between Gabrielle Forbush and Franklin D. and Eleanor Roosevelt; copies of resolutions sent to President-elect Roosevelt on the occasion of the assassination attempt in Miami, Florida; news clippings; excerpts from mail from the general public (1932-1933); and the draft of the form letter sent to those with whom Franklin Roosevelt did not wish to correspond directly.
Collection Historical Note
Gabrielle Forbush was a secretary with Louis Howe's staff during the presidential campaign of 1932. Thereafter she served Howe as secretary until his death in 1936, when she became Chief, Division of Correspondence of the Treasury Department, a position she held until 1945. She then held several other positions in the Treasury Department until her retirement in 1966.
