Copies of correspondence and other documents from NARA Record Group 64 relating to the early operation of the FDR Library.

This collection consists of three folders of materials copied from NARA Record Group 64 relating to the early operation of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library. Two of the folders contain materials from the NARA case file on the Library. These materials include official correspondence regarding items to be included in the collection; memoranda and other documents concerning rules and procedures; and draft forms to be used by researchers. Also included is a draft of the National Archives document "Custody, Protection, and Use of Historical Material in the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library." The third folder contains correspondence and minutes of meetings with Franklin Roosevelt concerning the Library and the materials he donated to it.

The National Archives was established in 1934 as the National Archives Establishment. In 1949 it was re-established as the National Archives and Records Service, General Services Administration, which it remained until 1985, when it became the independent agency known as the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). On July 4, 1940, the National Archives took over the operation of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library.
