Series 1: General Correspondence, 1904-1928 - This series contains correspondence between Franklin D. Roosevelt and persons with whom he communicated about personal, business, or intellectual matters, although occasional political items may be found. Among the correspondents are Van Lear Black, Isaiah Bowman, William Jennings Bryan, Richard E. Byrd, Renah F. Camalier, James M. Cox, Josephus Daniels, Livingston Davis, Norman H. Davis, Abram I. Elkus, Julian Goldman, Louis McHenry Howe, Arthur P. Homer, Marguerite A. LeHand, William Gibbs McAdoo, Langdon P. Marvin, John A. McIlhenny, Marvin H. McIntyre, D. Basil O'Connor, William Gorham Rice, G. Hall Roosevelt, and Alfred E. Smith.

Series 2: Subject File - This series contains correspondence, printed materials, and other documents related to Franklin D. Roosevelt's many business, civic, family, and cultural interests. Business materials in this series include correspondence and reports regarding enterprises in which Roosevelt had an investment interest or in which he served as an officer or partner, including the law firm of Carter, Ledyard and Milburn and the Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland. Materials related to Roosevelt's philanthropic or civic interests include files on the Boy Scout Foundation of Greater New York, the American Construction Council, the Woodrow Wilson Foundation, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine fund-raising campaign, the Navy Club of New York, and the Seaman's Church Institute of New York. Roosevelt's interest in the histories of the Roosevelt and Delano families are reflected in the extensive files of genealogical information contained in this series, which include correspondence, charts, and printed materials. This series also contains Roosevelt's school records during the periods that he was tutored at home and attended Groton School, Harvard University, and Columbia University Law School. Also included in the school materials are appointment books and notes, school exercises, school compositions on naval history and the history of the Roosevelt family, programs, tickets, and other souvenirs. Additionally, the series contains printed programs, menus, and other souvenirs of events in Roosevelt's life, as well as scrapbooks of newspaper articles dealing with Roosevelt's career in business and with the activities of his mother, Sara Delano Roosevelt.
