Scope and Contents of the Materials

The materials in this collection relate to Franklin D. Roosevelt's political activities in the Democratic Party from December 1920, after the Cox-Roosevelt defeat in the Presidential election, to January 1928, when Roosevelt began his campaign to become Governor of New York. Not included in these papers are materials pertaining to the campaign to nominate Alfred E. Smith as the Democratic Presidential candidate in 1924, and business and personal papers relating to the Roosevelt family.

The papers consist of incoming and outgoing correspondence, printed materials, and newspaper clippings related to the Democratic Party.
