Collection Historical Note

Herman Kahn was an archivist and manuscript librarian. He was director of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library from 1948 to 1961. He also serrved as a National Archives archivist and administrator (1936-1946 and 1961-1968) and as assisstant librarian for Manuscripts and Archives at Yale University (1968-1975).
