Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection contains correspondence and memoranda between Waldo G. Leland and other members of the Executive Committee of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library, over which Leland presided. The correspondents discuss the planning of the Presidential Library, fundraising, and memoranda from and about the members of a separate Advisory Committee. Additionally, there are newspaper clippings about the construction of the FDR Presidential Library.
Collection Historical Note
Waldo G. Leland, archivist and historian, took an active role in promoting the Roosevelt Library, appearing before Congressional Committees and serving as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Library Foundation (1946-1952).
