Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection consists of one folder of copies of materials from the Stuart A. Rice Papers, "Roosevelt Library Executive Committee" folder (1938-1942), at the Harry S. Truman Library. These materials include correspondence, plans, founding documents, and newsclippings related to the establishment and early operation of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library. Also included is a copy of House Joint Resolution 268 (April 19, 1939) that provided for the establishment and maintenance of the Library.
Collection Historical Note
Stuart A Rice was a sociologist and statistician who was a member of the Executive Committee that helped to plan the construction and organization of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library. He later served as Assistant Director for Statistical Standards, Bureau of the Budget, from 1940 to 1955.
