Scope and Contents of the Materials
The papers of Frank W. Murphy are comprised of a biographical excerpt from History of Minnesota, his obituary, a 1920 speech, a 1928 speech, and a bound collection of radio speeches given during the 1936 Presidential campaign.
Collection Historical Note
In July 1933 President Roosevelt named Frank W. Murphy the director of Public Works for the fourth regional district which included Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska and Wyoming. Murphy was known as the "Farm Leader."
