Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection contains correspondence to and from Fay Welch as pertaining to a 1940 bill proposed by Senator Mead of New York calling for an "Adirondack National Recreation Area." and highway.  As a Professor of Forestry at the Forestry College of Syracuse University, Fay corresponds with a multiplicity of politicians and government agencies, chief among the National Park Service, to express his diapproval of the bill.  A copy of the bill may also be found in this collection.
