Included in this collection are the stenographic transcripts of Press Conferences hosted by Franklin D. Roosevelt, both in and away from the White House. This collection of transcriptions was microfilmed by the National Archives in 1956.

This collection contains original typescripts created by Roosevelt's White House stenography staff, and no grammatical corrections have been made to this version. All transcripts are numbered and are arranged chronologically, followed by a detailed subject index at the end of the collection.

The word, "CONFIDENTIAL," as appears on these pages is not a security classification marking. Rather, it reflects the former White House rule forbidding direct quotation of statements made by the President at his press conferences except when such quotation was expressly authorized. This rule no longer applies. Additionally, any restriction with respect to the use of "off the record" statements may also be considered lifted.
