This collection consists of copies of correspondence between the American Foundation for the Blind and Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt.

Collection Historical Note

Founded in 1921, the American Federation for the Blind (AFB)  was formed and continues to provide information on vision loss, promote research, and advocate for the needs of people with vision loss. In 1924, writer and activist Helen Keller began working for the AFB, and she continued to be active in the organization until her death in 1968.
