USS Houston anchored off Catalina Harbor, Old Providence Island. The Colombian destroyer Caldas lay at anchorage with the crew in full-dress in compleliment to FDR. The commanding officer of the destroyer, Capitan de Fragata R. Roundell paid his respects to FDR. FDR, accompanied by Ross and Dan, embarked in the motor whaleboat for a look at the town. At the town pier FDR was greeted by the Alcalde, the Port Captain, and other local officials.
