(dinner) Prime Min. Winston S. Churchill, Mrs. Oliver, Adm. William D. Leahy, Maj. John Boettiger, Capt. Randolph Churchill, Harry L. Hopkins. Received word from Amb. Steinhardt at Ankara, Turkey, that Pres. Inonu would come to Cairo, Egypt on Saturday 12/4/43 for a conference. W. Averell Harriman and Mr Bohlen remained in Teheran, Iran for a few days longer and proceeded on to Moscow, USSR. The news story concerning the first Cairo conference (11/22-11/26/43) broke officially the morning of 12/2/43. |
