The USS Potomac cast off her lines and set course down the Potomac River for a rendezvous with the USS Iowa, in the Chesapeake Bay near the confluence of the Bay and the Potomac River. The USS Potomac was escorted by the SC664. As an early transfer to the USS Iowa was planned for Friday morning, all members of the party turned in soon after we departed Quantico, VA. Strong winds in this area during the early afternoon had abated in time to permit smooth sailing down the river.
