FDR's plane landed at Cairo West airport. Late arrival of plane caused some concern at the air field, but it turned out to have been due to an in-air detour. FDR was met at Cairo West airport by Maj. Gen. Ralph Royce, USA, Commanding General, US Army Forces in the Middle East, and his Chief of Staff, Brig. Gen. G. X. Cheaves, USA. Generalissimo and Mme. Chiang Kai-Shek and their party, and Prime Min. Winston S. Churchill and his party had arrived in Cairo, Egypt on 11/21/43. |

FDR disembarked and proceeded via automobile to Amb. Alexander C. Kirk's villa in the Mena District of Cairo, Egypt. |

Arrived at Amb. Kirk's Mena villa and stayed there for the duration of this visit. The Cairo Conference was held in the Mena House Hotel. FDR was met at the villa by Amb. Kirk and by W. Averell Harriman. During the afternoon, Prime Min. Winston S. Churchill, Generalissimo and Mme. Chiang Kai-Shek called. |
