President Roosevelt dedicated the new Boulder Dam and gave this speech, with accompanying photos, on September 30, 1935. The first two photos show the President and his party near the Nevada-Arizona border and the third shows FDR touring the dam’s construction site. Before launching into his prepared remarks, FDR improvised, “This morning I came, I saw and I was conquered, as anyone would be who sees for the first time this great feat of mankind.”
