The Franklin D. Roosevelt Library and Museum is on the eastern shore of the Hudson River, four miles north of Poughkeepsie, midway between New York City and Albany. The Library is easily reached by air, rail, or automobile.

By Train
The Metro-North Commuter Railroad operates numerous trains daily from Grand Central Terminal to Poughkeepsie. Amtrak offers connections to Poughkeepsie from hundreds of major cities throughout the country. The Amtrak station in Manhattan is Pennsylvania Station. Taxi service is available to the Library from the Poughkeepsie station.
By Car
The Library is approximately 2 hours from New York City, 1 1/2 hours from Albany, 2 hours from Hartford, CT, and 2 hours from Scranton, PA.
Directions From Manhattan: Take the Henry Hudson Parkway to the Taconic Parkway then proceed to Route 84 west. Follow 84 to Route 9 north...or take the New York State Thruway to exit 18 at New Paltz. *Follow Route 299 east to Route 9W south. Cross the Mid-Hudson Bridge to Route 9 north. The Library is on the left side of Route 9, 4 miles north of Poughkeepsie.
From Long Island: Take the Long Island Expressway to Cross Island Parkway. Cross the Whitestone Bridge. Follow the Hutchinson River Parkway to Route 684 north, then Route 84 west to Route 9 north. The Library is on the left side of Route 9, 4 miles north of Poughkeepsie.
From New Jersey: Take the Garden State Parkway, Palisades Parkway, or Route 17 to the New York Thruway. Take the Thruway north to exit 18 at New Paltz. (Follow the directions from Manhattan, beginning at the *.)
From Connecticut: Take Route 84 west to Route 9 north. The Library is on the left side of the Route 9, 4 miles north of Poughkeepsie.
From Port Jervis/Scranton: Take Route 84 east across the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge to route 9 north. The Library is on the left side of Route 9, 4 miles north of Poughkeepsie.
From Albany: Take the New York State Thruway south to exit 18 at New Paltz. (Follow directions from Manhattan, beginning at the *.)
Driving south on Route 9: The Library is located on the right, 2 miles after the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park.
