Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum:

The Library's museum contains extensive displays on the lives and careers of both President and Mrs. Roosevelt. Through the use of documents, photographs, historic memorabilia, and multimedia technology, the exhibits document that turbulent period of our nation's history from the Great Depression through World War II. Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site:

The home and gravesite of Franklin D. Roosevelt is located on the same grounds as the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum. The National Park Service offers tours daily, 9am to 5pm. Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site - Val-Kill:

The home of Eleanor Roosevelt is located approximately 1 mile from the FDR Library and Museum. The National Park Service offers tours of the homes daily 9am to 5pm from May to October and weekends November through April. For more information call (845) 229-9115. website

Top Cottage:
Located off Cream Street in Hyde Park, NY.
Top Cottage was designed by Franklin D. Roosevelt as a fully handicap-accessible retreat which saw the likes of such world leaders as the King and Queen of England. Top Cottage was recently purchased by the National Park Service. Please call (845) 229-9115 for visitor information. website

St. James Episcopal Church:

The funeral services for Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt were held at St. James, the Episcopal church they both attended. FDR's parents are buried in the historic cemetery.

Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site:
Route 9, Hyde Park, NY, 2 miles north of the FDR Library and Museum.
This "Guilded Age" mansion overlooking the Hudson River, built in 1896 was the home of Frederick and Louise Vanderbilt The National Park Service conducts tours of this historic landmark daily from 9am to 5pm. The grounds and trails are open until sunset. Call (845) 229-9115 for more information.

Mills Mansion State Historic Site:

This opulent "Guilded Age" mansion was the home of Ogden and Ruth Livingston Mills. Open mid-April-Labor Day, Wednesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays, noon - 5 p.m. Open Labor Day to late October, Wednesday-Sunday, noon-5 p.m. Special Christmas tours, Call for hours. Groups welcome, handicapped accessible and tours available.

Samuel F. B. Morse Historic Site - Locust Grove:

Culinary Institute of America:

Beekman Arms:

Operating since 1766, The Beekman Arms is the oldest continually-run inn in the United States. Stay overnight or stop in for a meal at the Beakman Arms 1766 Tavern.

Montgomery Place:

Wilderstein Preservation:

1888 Victorian home of Franklin Roosevelt's cousin Daisy Suckley, a descendant of the Livingstons and Beekmans. Open May through October, Thursdays through Sundays, 12pm to 4pm. Weekends Thanksgiving through December 1pm to 4pm.

Hyde Park Post Office:

The Hyde Park Post Office was built by the New Deal and the cornerstone was laid by Franklin Roosevelt. The inside is lined with historic murals.

Poughkeepsie Post Office:

Built by the WPA, the Poughkeepsie Post Office is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as an example of 20th Centruy Colonial Revival. Its cornerstone was laid by Franklin D. Roosevelt and its five murals depict local, state, and national historic moments.

Dutchess Community College Norrie Point Environmental Site, Aquarium Museum:

Norrie Point has a marina, an aquatic museum, and numerous hiking trails. The Aquarium is open May through October, Saturdays 11am to 5pm, Sunday 1pm to 5pm.

Hudson Valley Raptor Center:

Located on a major migratory flyway, the Hudson Valley Raptor Center is a hospital and sanctuary focused solely on the survival of birds of prey. Every year, thousands of migrating raptors use the Hudson Valley as a "superhighway" in the sky.

Innisfree Garden:

From 1930 to 1960 Innisfree was the private garden of Walter and Marion Beck. In 1960, the Innisfree Foundation opened the garden, which explores the Chinese "cup garden" design concept, to the public. Although the cup garden idea came from China, Innisfree is an American garden. The lake is glacial, most of the plant material is native, and the rocks have come from the immediate forest. Beck and Collins have taken what nature provided and adapted the cup garden idea to turn Innisfree into a work of art. Innisfree Garden is open from May 1 to October 20

West Point:

The Visitors Center provides an excellent central starting point for all visitors to the U.S. Military Academy. The center offers historical and informational videos, parking, restrooms, a gift shop, maps, pamphlets, a full-scale cadet barracks room, a movie theater and guided bus tours. The Visitors Center and West Point Museum are open to the general public on a daily basis. Visitors may enter the academy grounds only by guided tours.

Webatuck Craft Village:

a step back in time to a collection of 18th Century shops along the Ten Mile River where visitors may watch pottery being thrown, glass blown, or metal hammered into lamps. The shops include Bristow Studio Glass, the Copper Knocker, Webatuck Pottery, Robert Stump Stained Glass, Webatuck Trading Company, Webatuck Gallery and Great Escape Spa.

Mills-Norrie State Park:

Mills-Norrie State Park is made up of two adjacent parks: Margaret Lewis Norrie and Ogden & Ruth Livingston Mills State Parks. Norrie Marina provides boating and fishing access, there are picnic areas on the bluffs overlooking the Hudson. Other attractions include two nine-hole golf courses that are open for cross-country skiing in the winter, a bridal path, along with hiking, biking, and snowmobiling trails.

James Baird State Park:

ames Baird State Park once farmland, now has an 18-hole golf course and a sports complex with softball field, basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball court and playground. Several miles of scenic, wooded trails are ideal for hiking and cross-country skiing. The park has a small nature center open summer weekends that also loans out recreational equipment. The nature center and nature programs are handicapped accessible. Reservable picnic shelters accommodate up to 300 persons and complement the open and wooded picnic areas. A full service restaurant overlooks the golf course and is open to the general public and golfers alike.

Powerhouse Theater:

Bardavon:

Eisenhower Hall:

The massive red brick venue is situated on the west bank of the picturesque Hudson Highlands on the historic grounds of the United States Military Academy. The auditorium, with its two balconies, large main orchestra level, huge stage and impressive technical capabilities, is New York state's second largest theater, next to New York's Radio City Music Hall. In addition to the 4,400 seat theatre, the building houses the 1929 Gallery, which presents a variety of art showings from Hudson Valley artists throughout the season. Exhibits in the gallery change monthly, and are open to the public free of charge.

Cunneen-Hackett Cultural Center:

The Cunnen-Hackett Gallery offers rotating exhibits of the region's both professional and up-and-coming artist. Special groups of artist are featured in exhibitions like "Through Our Eyes," a celebration of art created by students of Poughkeepsie City School District. Cunneen-Hackett's two historic 1880s buildings remind us that the history of Poughkeepsie is Cultural Center is proud to be a part of a Renaissance which is bringing people back to Downtown Poughkeepsie.
