Scope and Contents of the Materials
The papers of John Roosevelt consist of three address books; two belonging to Eleanor Roosevelt and one belonging to Elliot Roosevelt, correspondence from schoolchildren to Eleanor Roosevelt, correspondence from Roosevelt to his mother, correspondence from Richard Nixon to Roosevelt, miscellaneous notes and cards, and a framed certificate awarded posthumously to Eleanor Roosevelt from Brockport University.
Collection Historical Note
John Roosevelt was the youngest child of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. During World War II he served in the US Navy. After the war he was the regional manager of Grayson and Robertson Stores in California. John never pursued a political career and he eventually changed his political party, becoming Republican.
