Description:
Original caption reads: "Not for sale! These charming, adorable character dolls have been designed and made by clever workers on WPA Toy Repair Projects in various parts of the country. Their colorful dresses and in some instances, even their bodies, have been made largely from WPA Sewing Room scraps, utilizing material which might otherwise be wasted. Besides such playthings made outright on the Project, many discarded toys are received for repair and reconditioning. The Majority are then made available to underpriveleged children through WPA Toy Lending Libraries all over the country. Some are placed in WPA Nursery Schools. At Christmas many are given to Santa Claus to distribute to underpriveleged children for their very own."
