Description:
Original caption reads: "This picture was made aboard a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier at a North Atalantic port recently. Spotted on the snow-covered flight deck are Douglas "Dauntless" dive bombers and Grumman "Avenger" torpedo planes. Archivist note: The planes with extended wings are Douglas SBD "Dauntless" dive bombers. Those planes with folded wings and wing-mounted landing gear are Grumman TBF "Avenger" torpedo bombers. In the middle of the photo, the planes with folded wings and fuselage-mounted landing gear appear to be Grumman F4F "Wildcat" fighters.
