Description:
Original caption reads: "German prisoners of war, captured during initial Allied landings, are given shelter from the continuing battle in their own beachhead defenses. Later they will be marched to a prisoner-of-war cage constructed from barbed wire taken from Hitler's own West Wall. Their attitudes in the trench suggest extreme fatigue. Note the expression of fear and shock on the face of captured German (fifth man from left) as he crouches at bottom of trench." Normandy, France.
