Description:
Original caption reads: "Scene from ruins. With a gaping hole in a ruined building forming the frame, this picture was taken of a crowd which gathered outside the Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Notre Dame des Voeux in Cherbourg after attending religious service in honor of the troops who lost their lives in the liberation of the city. The evidence of war is seen in the foreground which is all that remains of another structure."
