Description:
Original caption reads: "Leave it to the Marines to make the best use of all the new fighting tools. Gyrene glider pilots in training at Page Field, Parris Island, S.C., take a six-week course during which each student must complete 1,000 successful takeoffs and landings. The plane is towing the three gliders." Archivist note: These are Schweizer LNS-1 gliders of VML-711, the Marine Glider Squadron. The photo was taken from a N3N-3 "Canary" biplane trainer. Its distinctive wing brace is visible to the right.
