Description:
Original caption reads: "These gliders may some day land United States Marines on the shores of Norway, the outskirts of Berlin, or the heel of Italy's boot. Now they're grounded peacefully between student-pilot flights at Page Field, Parris Island, S.C." Archivist note: These Schweizer LNS-1 gliders and pilots are members of VLM-711, the Marine Glider Squadron. The biplanes are N3N-3 "Canary" trainer aircraft.
