Description:
Original caption reads: "Protection of Berlin's monuments. Since the hoped for 'Blitz'-victory has not come to pass, Berlin now prepares for the British air offensive. In the third year of the war the most valuable monuments of the town are being provided with a wooden screen, or are being surrounded by solid concrete walls. Here 'Old Fritz' - King Frederic of Prussia is being surrounded by concrete; his spirit has long since been imprisoned in Germany." Archivist note: The equestrian statue of Frederick the Great in Berlin is located on the Unter den Linden between the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (in the background on the left) and Humboldt University (in the background on the right).
