Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection consists mainly of correspondence and statistical data concerning the forestation projects on Franklin Roosevelt's Hyde Park, NY estate. Also included is correspondence with Elliott Roosevelt and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial Foundation, as well as Nelson Brown's personal reminiscences.
Collection Historical Note
Nelson C. Brown was a professor of forestry from 1914 to 1951 at the New York State College of Forestry. He acted as advisor to Franklin Roosevelt on the most effective use of the forested land on his Hyde Park, NY estate. Nelson Brown continued to advise Eleanor Roosevelt and her son Elliott after Franklin Roosevelt's death.
