Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr. and John Roosevelt pictured with famed Hawaiian-American surfer, Duke Kahanamoku. FDR's sons traveled with President Roosevelt aboard the USS Houston to Hawaii in 1934, which was the first visit of a sitting US president to the Territory. Duke Kahanamoku gave private surfing lessions to the Roosevelt sons and their party during their stay at Waikiki.
