Chief Ship's Clerk Terry returned with transcript of President's dictation and found FDR, Harry L. Hopkins, Prime Min. Winston S. Churchill, and Churchill's son Capt. Randolph Churchill conferring. In the next two hours the final draft of a cable to Joseph V. Stalin reporting on the highlights of the meeting was agreed upon as was the text of a joint communique to be issued the next day to the press. Note: The start time is described as shortly after midnight. It is not stated when the meeting started. Harold Macmillan and Min. Murphy left at 0210. Winston S. Churchill and his son left at 0230. FDR retired a few minutes later. |
